“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”

The greatest story in all of human history is told in the opening chapters of John’s Gospel. Surely the heavenly saints rejoice when one reads these verses as they declare, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth…For from His fullness we have all received grace upon grace.” For the redeemed, these words resound into the depths of our hearts producing worship, awe and gratitude towards the Incarnate Logos.
For centuries, God has spoken through His prophets but now, God has reveled His glory through His Son. A world plagued by disease, sickness, pain, mourning and death is now invaded with hope, life and glory. This is not some happy-go-lucky story though. The evil world that the eternal Logos enters into is surely evil and will do everything it can to stifle the Hope that came into the world. Believer, be not dismayed though, we see this story through the lenses of Calvary.
Through the world’s attempts to stuff out the Light, God’s plan is coming into fruition through evil schemes. The world’s attempts to stifle the Gospel only further advances the Gospel. We have a Savior who not only enters into a dark and dismal situation but comes to rescue us from ourselves and this world. Jesus, the eternal Logos from Heaven, has ransomed His people, securing their salvation definitely and eternally. Therefore, in this life, we can fully put our hope and trust in Him. He is a rock unwavering and a hope unshaken.
Believer, there is no greater joy than to press in to know this Jesus. From the fullness of His glory, we receive grace upon grace. Jesus is not stingy with His blessings; He gives abundantly to His people. Don’t be deceived into worldly thinking though, Jesus is not a geenie, waiting to grant your every wish. Jesus’ grace is abundant in much more than material things that will ultimately fade and wither. Jesus has blessed us eternally with the ultimate pardon of our sins in the Gospel. Therefore, press into the fullness of Jesus, where you will find a Savior with open hands pouring out grace upon grace into your heart.

Our security has been established in the heavens from the very beginning, and it will be standing there, keeping us sound in Christ at the end, and forevermore.”
